Thank you for visiting. Tichaona Chinyelu has been writing poetry since she was in high school in Boston. A high school teacher convinced her to enter one of her poems into an Emerson College emerging writers contest. Her poem won Honorable Mention and that emboldened her to continue writing.

Twenty-five years later she is still at it, having under her belt about a handful of publications. She has been published in The African American Review, Line Zero, Step Up to the Mic: A Poetic Explosion, Liberated Muse Vol. 1, Dialogue: A Journal of Cultural Literacy as well as various online journals. A huge believer in self-determination, she jumped into the fire and self published her first three books of poetry: In the Whirlwind, Still Living on my Feet and Contraband Marriage. From there, she ventured further into the realm of publishing. Her publishing company, Whirlwind Publishing, has published books by authors A. Shakur Towns, Abena Isake and Melanie Yeyo Carter.

Currently, Ms. Chinyelu is researching material for her fourth book of verse . She can be reached at whirlwindpub@gmail.com.
